Our Story
A tribute to Sarasota’s first lady of style
We named our parlor in honor of Mable Ringling, whose taste still shapes Sarasota a century later. Her Rose Garden on the Ringling estate was completed in 1913: an Italian-inspired, 27,000-square-foot garden laid out in a circular wagon-wheel pattern. It was her first major landscaping project on the property.
Mable fell for Venice on her travels with John Ringling, and she wanted their bayfront winter home, Ca’ d’Zan (“House of John” in Venetian dialect), to echo the Venetian Gothic palazzi, with Sarasota Bay as her Grand Canal. The house was completed in 1926, and she oversaw details down to the mixing of the terra cotta and the glazing of the tiles. She was also the first president of the Sarasota Garden Club.
Our rose accents, terracotta and gold are a nod to that era. The pizza is all ours.
